On this extended version of our half-day White Salmon trip, you’ll continue an extra 4.5 miles downstream after enjoying a delicious catered lunch at Northwestern Park. Enjoy stunning scenery and learn about the remarkable history of the White Salmon’s Lower Gorge as your raft descends through the remnants of Northwestern Lake, the former site of Condit Dam, and the incredible White Salmon Narrows. This 12-mile adventure ends in a national scenic area with views of the mighty volcano, Mt. Hood. Spectacular!

4 Day Raft Guiding Clinic

This is our entry-level course for anyone interested in learning to guide rafts or run rivers on their own. It includes 3.5 days of classroom and on-river instruction.

Students learn information on river hydrology and what creates rapids. They also receive an introduction on how to: 

  • Scout rapids
  • Recognize and avoid hazards
  • Choose a line through a rapid
  • Control a raft by paddle guiding and instructing a paddle crew
  • Catch eddies 
  • Rig and tie knots
  • Use, care for, and transport rafting equipment
  • Give a pre-trip safety talk
  • Implement rescue and recovery techniques and tools
